Peter Zeleny

Peter ZelenyA Teaneck resident for 17 years, Peter Zeleny has been a Board of Education member since 1967 and served three terms as Board president. He currently represents District 37 (which includes Teaneck) on the Legislative Committee of the New Jersey School Boards Association.

His community service includes being a director of the Community Chest and a member of the Patriotic Observance Advisory Board. He is a member of the Chief Justice White Council of the Knights of Columbus and of St. Joseph Parish. He has also served on the Stokes Forest Youth Council, and has been a District County Committeeman.

He has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Manhattan College.

For the past 25 years, he has been employed by National Starch and Chemical Corporation, where his current position is Sales Compensation and Fleet Administrator.

The candidate's wife, Jean, also has been active in community service. She is a member of the Woman's Club of Teaneck, and has been a member of several PTAs and a Girl Scout leader and coordinator.

The Zelenys have two children, Deborah and William. Deborah, a registered nurse in Englewood Hospital's Coronary Care Unit, attended Teaneck public schools and Holy Angels Academy. William, who won a National Merit Scholarship at Teaneck High School, is a student at Manhattan College's School of Engineering.
