Arts and Crafts House, c.1912-25
755 Pomander Walk

Bergen County is graced with a
large number of Arts & Crafts bungalows, American Foursquare pattern-book
houses, Sears & Roebuck models, and even a few authentic Craftsman Home
Builder's Club dwellings. These simple house types appealed to working class and
middle class Americans who were drawn to their more leisurely and accommodating
plans and general simplicity of construction. Their peak period of popularity
occurred on either side of the two World Wars, when domestic shelter
publications proliferated. This example has quaint lines and typical wood and
shingle details, mixed with a hint of the Colonial Revival.
