FINANCE:

In 1996, the Finance Department disbursed more than $34,000,000 in Budget Appropriations through the processing of more than 4,000 vouchers. In addition, the Department prepares bi-weekly payroll for over 350 full time employees as well as part time and seasonal employees, and prepares all State and Federal returns.

The Finance Department has maintained an in-house computer for its budget and accounting system since 1995. In 1996, the Finance Department extended its computer network to include the Department of Purchasing, Public Works, Health and Building. The remaining offices in the main building, Township Manager and Township Clerk, are budgeted to be included in 1997.

The Finance Department's offices along with those of the Purchasing Department and the Assessor's were renovated in 1996.

The Tax Office is the central receipting agency for all licenses, fees, permits, fines, etc. In addition, this office handles the billing, tax collection and tax searches for more than 12,000 properties in the Township. Inquiries for related information from residents, attorneys, realtors, banks, mortgage companies and others are responded to by this office, which is managed by the Tax Collector.
