Teaneck Public Library Lending Policy

ALL MATERIALS ARE DUE ON DATE INDICATED ON THE DATE DUE RECEIPT OR DATE SLIP IN BOOK POCKET

Most materials are charged out for 4 weeks with the exception of new books, Videocassettes, DVDs and music CD's, which are charged out for 2 weeks.

RENTAL DVDS:

The rental DVDs are $0.25 per day, with the first 25 cents due upon checkout and any remaining charges payable on return. Rentals MUST be returned to the Teaneck library. They are available to any ADULT cardholder(18 years old or over) from any BCCLS library. It is a browsing collection and is NOT reservable, requestable or renewable.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN A LIBRARY CARD (effective Dec. 14. 2000):
Adult patrons must present either: a current New Jersey Driver's License showing street address, or a Bergen County photo ID card

Or two of the Following: deed, mortgage statement, town tax bill, lease, PSE&G bill, water bill, letter from shelter and/or affidavit of landlord.

Minors must present a Teaneck school ID card showing their address, their most recent report card or must have their parent present and the parents ID as listed above will be accepted.

Note: Library cards are not issued or replaced on Sundays.

FINES:
Adult overdue materials are charged at the rate of 10 cents per day, with a maximum of $5 per item.

Children's books are charged at the rate of 5 cents per day with a maximum of $5.00 per item.

PATRONS CARDS ARE SUBJECT TO:

AUTOMATIC BLOCKAGE
Automatic Blockage will occur when $10.00 in actual or projected fines has accrued, 10 or more items are overdue or unreturned items are sixty (60) or more days overdue.

CLEARING RECORD
Automatic blockage caused by fines may be cleared at any library. All other delinquent items must be cleared at the home library.

Items priced over $30 will be charged at cost.

NO REFUNDS ARE GIVE ON MATERIALS ONCE THEY ARE PAID FOR.

RENEWALS

Renewals are possible unless:

(a) someone else is waiting for the item. or
(b) the item is not renewable (i.e., bestseller);
(c) the item has been renewed the maximum number of times.

Renewals over the telephone are limited to three (3) per day. The barcode number of the item must be read for telephone service.

Renewals may be done online for items that are renewable, if your card is not blocked. For this you must have a PIN, obtainable at any BCCLS library.

RESERVES:

Requests made for items owned by Teaneck or any other BCCLS library are 25 cents, payable upon pickup. There is a limit of three(3) requests per day, whether by phone, e-mail or in person.

Items not owned by BCCLS libraries may be requested via inter-library loan and are limited to five(5) requests per household per year at the $0.25 charge. Subsequent requests are $5.00 each, whether filled or not.

PENALTIES FOR NON-COMPLIANCE WITH THESES RULES ARE ESTABLISHED IN ORDINANCE #2078. A COPY OF THE ORDINANCE IS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST.

IN ORDER TO PREVENT THE THEFT OF BOOKS AND LIBRARY MATERIALS. STATE LAW AUTHORIZES THE DETENTION FOR A REASONABLE PERIOD OF ANY PERSON USING THESE FACILITIES WHO IS SUSPECTED OF COMMITTING THEFT OF LIBRARY MATERIAL." (CHAPTER 373, S-722)
